Getting started

Charge. Pair. Play.

Everything you need, in the order you'll need it. Five minutes now, and you can leave the manual in the drawer.

First things first

Charge it

Give Mango a full charge before its first day out. The USB-C port sits at the back, just above the halo.

  • Use the cable in the box with any USB-C phone charger: 5 V, 2 A or more. There is no charger in the box.
  • Empty to full takes about 2 hours.
  • While it charges, the halo breathes slowly. It holds steady when full.
  • Back from a swim? Let the port dry completely before you plug in.
Wake it up

Switch on

Touch and hold play/pause for 2 seconds to switch Mango on. The halo comes up at the base. Do the same to switch it off.

At rest the top is smooth and dark. Bring your hand close and it lights from inside, showing you where to touch.

To save battery, Mango switches itself off after 20 minutes with nothing playing.

Bluetooth 5.3

Pair your phone

  1. Pairing mode

Touch and hold the Bluetooth zone for 2 seconds, until the halo pulses.

  2. On your phone

Open the Bluetooth settings and choose Mango in the list.

  3. Play something

That's it. Volume works from the phone and from the top of Mango.

Two phones at once

Mango is multipoint: two phones can stay connected at the same time. Pair the second one the same way. Pause on one, press play on the other, and the music switches over without re-pairing.

30m

How far it reaches

Up to 30 m in open space, with a clear line of sight. Walls, people and water all shorten that, so keep the phone in view when the signal matters.

The light

The halo

The ring of light at the base doesn't light the room. It sets Mango on a soft cushion of light, and it's the reason you'll want to leave it on.

Out of the box, each Mango glows in its own colour:

Reactive

The halo follows the music as it plays. The livelier choice for a party or a day outside.

Fixed colour

The halo holds one colour you choose. Calmer, and better for a dinner table.

Switch and choose

To switch between the two moods, touch and hold beach mode and play/pause together.

To pick the fixed colour, touch the palm repeatedly while in fixed colour.

The halo and the battery

Light takes power. The up to 16 hours of play are measured at 50 % volume, halo off. With the halo bright and reactive all day, expect about 12 hours. For the longest day out, switch the halo off: touch and hold volume down and the Bluetooth zone together for 2 seconds. Do the same to bring it back.

No walls

Beach mode

Indoors, walls and ceilings bounce the bass back to you. Outside, nothing does, and a speaker can sound thin. Beach mode lifts the low end and reshapes the sound for open air.

Touch the palm on top to switch it on, touch it again to switch it off. Back inside, turn it off: it's tuned for places with no walls.

Left and right

Stereo pair

Two Mango become a real stereo pair: one plays the left channel, the other the right.

  1. Both on, side by sideSwitch on the two speakers and keep them close for the first link.
  2. Link themTouch and hold the Bluetooth zone on both at the same time for 4 seconds.
  3. Spread them outPlay from your phone as usual, then move them apart, one on each side of the space.

Not the same as multipoint: multipoint is two phones on one Mango, stereo is two Mango on one phone.

Magnetic feet

Stacking

The feet are magnetic, so one Mango sits securely on top of another and they make a column.

Stacked, the speakers couple their bass. You get a fuller low end and more presence in the room. It doesn't simply turn everything up, and it isn't meant to: it's about weight in the sound, not volume.

Up to three can stack. There is nothing to set up: put one on top of another and the magnets line them up. To play in sync, link them first, as for stereo.

Fuller bass, more presence
IP67

Water

Mango is sealed to IP67: dust tight, and it survives immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes. It also floats, with about a quarter of its body above the surface, so a drop in the pool is a non-event.

Go ahead

  • Pool, sea, lake, shower, rain.
  • Rinse it under fresh tap water after salt water or chlorine.
  • Shake it gently and let it dry before charging.
  • Keep the USB-C port dry when you plug in.

Not that

  • Hot water, or hot tubs above 40 °C.
  • Saunas and steam rooms.
  • Pressure washers or hard jets.
  • Deeper than 1 m, or longer than 30 minutes.
The skin

Fabric and sand

Dyed through, not printed.

The woven fabric is meant to be rinsed rather than babied.

Sand

Let it dry first. Dry sand falls out with a few taps and a soft dry brush; wet sand gets rubbed in.

Salt and chlorine

Rinse with fresh water under a gentle tap, then let it air dry in the shade. No radiator, no hair dryer.

Marks and stains

Dab with a soft cloth, lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap, rinse, then let it dry in the shade. No solvent, no bleach, no stiff brush on the weave.

Normal wear of the fabric isn't covered by the warranty, so a little care goes a long way.

Power

Battery

16h

Play time

Up to 16 hours, measured at 50 % volume, halo off. Loud music, beach mode and a bright halo all bring that down.

Checking the level

Touch play/pause and volume up together: the halo fills to show the charge.

Charging

About 2 hours from empty to full on USB-C. Ten minutes gives about 3 hours of play.

3months

Storing it

Put it away at about half charge and top it up every 3 months.

Heat. Don't charge it in full sun or in a hot car. Batteries prefer shade.

If the battery holds less than 80 % of its original capacity within 2 years, that's a warranty case.

If something's off

Troubleshooting

It won't pair

Make sure Mango is in pairing mode: touch and hold the Bluetooth zone for 2 seconds. Keep the phone within a metre or so.

If you paired it before, open your phone's Bluetooth list, choose "forget this device" on Mango, and pair again.

Already two phones connected? Mango holds two at a time. Disconnect one, then pair the new one.

The sound cuts out

Usually distance or obstacles. The range is up to 30 m in open space with a clear line of sight; walls, people, a pocket or water in between shorten it a lot. Move the phone closer and in view.

A low battery can also cause drop-outs. Charge it and try again.

The sound is muffled after a swim

Water can sit in the fabric for a moment. Shake Mango gently, top up, and let it air dry. The sound comes back as it dries.

It won't charge

Check that the USB-C port is dry and free of sand. Then try another cable and another charger: 5 V, 2 A or more.

The halo is off

Check that the halo hasn't been dimmed or switched off: touch and hold volume down and the Bluetooth zone together for 2 seconds; do the same to bring it back. If it stays dark while music plays, charge Mango, then reset it.

How do I reset it?

Touch and hold volume down and volume up together for 10 seconds, until the halo flashes.

Afterwards, pair your phone again as if it were new.
